What is a Bottle?

Bottle (n): 1. A portable container for holding liquids, usually having a neck and mouth and made of glass or plastic. 2. A container for giving milk formulas or substitutes to infants in place of mother’s milk.

3. In chemistry, a container that holds a solution or mixture. 4. In adverbial phrase hit the bottle, Slang: to drink excessively.

A neologism originating in the 19th Century, from the verb to blow, originally meaning “to have courage,” but later to mean any disastrous event on or off the stage: a theatrical fiasco, and by extension a dismal failure of any kind. The phrase also has acquired the sense of someone who is “addicted to the bottle,” as in “He’s hitting the bottle again.”

Bottle Episode:

In the streaming era, series are often written and filmed as entire seasons rather than individually over several months. As a result, the episodes of a given show tend to look and feel very similar to each other. This has created a situation where it feels more notable when an episode stands out from the crowd. This is particularly true when the episode is a bottle episode.

A bottle episode is an episode of a television show that was deliberately written and filmed to be cheaper, faster, and more restrictive than other episodes in a season. The strictest definition of a bottle episode is an episode that is filmed entirely on one prebuilt (“standing”) set, includes only the main cast members, and takes place in a confined space over a shorter period of time than other episodes of the same show.

While the earliest bottles were almost exclusively glass types, the introduction of plastic in 1947 opened up many more possibilities. Plastic bottles are lighter, more flexible, and more economically manufactured than glass types. In addition, their breakage resistance is superior to that of glass. However, they do not offer the attractive transparency and gloss of glass, and repeated handling can dilute their product protection. Plastic recycling, especially for high-density polyethylene and polyethylene terephthalate types, has helped to reduce the problem of solid waste.

An embossed bottle is a container that has been decorated with raised letters, designs or graphics. The decoration is formed by incising or engraving the inside mold surfaces of the bottle. The term is usually used to refer to a single-use type, although returnable bottle designs are also available. The plate below shows a number of examples of embossed bottles, including one with an unusual shaped label. The shaped design is formed by the shape of the bottle’s shoulders and neck. This type of bottle is also known as a push-up or a curved neck bottle. This type of bottle is a popular choice for pharmaceutical products. Its rounded shoulder and neck make it easy to grip. It is also easier to fit into a refrigerator door or car window sleeve than a flat-sided bottle, which may be difficult to squeeze into narrow spaces.
